In 1886 a
group of Albion College girls organized for literary work
under the name of Sigma Theta. On the 19th of March the
following year they obtained a charter of Kappa Alpha Theta
and continued as Pi Chapter of that fraternity for
twenty-one years. The active members of 1908 resigned their
national charter (Editor's note: Their charter was revoked
due to decreasing enrollment and the breaking of rules;
some members were caught dancing.) on November 18th and on
December 12th, with six new girls, resumed the name and
work of their former society.
