The Pierian Society was organized in 1906 as a sisterhood
for Albion College girls. The society encouraged each girl
"..in participating in all of the college life, and in
striving especially for high scholarship. (1914 Albionian)
Members
of the Pierian Literary Society had goals of not merely
intellectual prowess and social development, but a kindlier
spirit of sisterhood.
